Free app for trimming and converting videos
Last updated: 2026-09-29
Video Editor is a free web app for trimming, cropping, and converting videos. It runs in your browser, with nothing to install and no sign-up required for files on your computer. Videos are read and exported with Mediabunny, an open-source media library (MPL-2.0); see the open-source notices.
Your video is processed in the browser instead of being uploaded to a Video Editor server. Google sign-in is requested only when you choose a Google Drive action, and the limited drive.file permission lets the app work with files you select or create - not everything in your Drive.
Opening, decoding, editing, saving, and exporting happen on your device in the browser. Your edits are kept as a list of instructions, so nothing is re-encoded until you save or export, and the Export dialog states exactly what will be written before it starts. Save writes the result to the video you opened only when you choose it, and asks first if that file changed while you were editing; an export is always a new file. Video Editor doesn't keep recovery drafts, so save or export before you close the tab.
When you use Google Drive, the video travels directly between your browser and Google through Google's APIs.
For step-by-step instructions, see the Help guide. For complete details about data handling and permissions, see the FAQ and Privacy Policy.
